Food, Clothing & Shelter
Mon - Sat
Owner Rakiyt “Raki” Zakari is a Norfolk native who moved to the Washington D.C. area as a teenager. She credits her upbringing in Hampton Roads, her Nigerian roots and exposure to the vibrancy of DC as inspiration for Food Clothing + Shelter. The shop is a multicultural brand that incorporates her love of nostalgia, adventure, travel, and culture into apparel, accessories, and other gifts.
Raki holds a BA in Fashion Merchandising and has studied Experimental Design in London at Central Saint Martins. With over 13 years of experience in the fashion industry, Rakiyt has collaborated on projects with Nike, National Geographic, Amnesty International, and the U.S. Department of State. Her goal for Food Clothing + Shelter is to “create an immersive experience that will leave a lasting impression akin to stamps on a passport.”
